Rehab program reaccredited by CARF

CARF announced that Baptist Hospital East has been accredited for three years for its Rehabilitation Program. The latest accreditation is the eighth consecutive three-year accreditation that the international accrediting commission has awarded to Baptist East.

This accreditation represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and shows Baptist East's substantial conformance to CARF standards. To receive the three-year accreditation, Baptist East's Rehabilitation program and staff went through a rigorous peer review process and demonstrated to a team of surveyors during an on-site visit that its programs and services are of the highest quality.

The survey team noted the Baptist Hospital East Rehabilitation Program's "long history of providing quality rehabilitation services to the community," along with its "very seasoned and experienced rehabilitation team and administration.

Baptist East's Rehabilitation Program works with patients who have been hospitalized due to an injury or illness to help them return to their normal daily activities. The program's 29-bed inpatient unit and outpatient services are housed on one floor, which is connected to the main hospital by pedway, and provides care to patients affected by a neurological or orthopedic disorder -- such as stroke, brain injury, amputation or hip fracture.

The Rehabilitation Unit consistently ranks among the top 10 percent in the nation for patient satisfaction (based on participating hospitals in the NRC+Picker patient satisfaction database), with more than 90 percent of patients rating their overall rehab experience as "excellent" or "very good" on satisfaction surveys.

CARF is an independent, nonprofit accrediting body whose mission is to promote the quality, value and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of the persons served. Founded in 1966 as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, and now known as CARF, the accrediting body establishes consumer-focused standards to help organizations measure and improve the quality of their programs and services.
