The Center for Behavioral Health® at Baptist Hospital East offers outpatient counseling services to help people deal with emotional overload and learn new ways to cope with problems. Every individual is carefully assessed to determine the nature of the problem and the best approach to care. If outpatient counseling is needed, a variety of options are available for adults and seniors, including:

• Individual counseling
  Individual counseling helps people work toward individual goals, such as improving coping skills and expressing or resolving feelings. One-to-one, 50-minute sessions are scheduled with a Master's level therapist.
  
  
• Group therapy
  Group therapy allows patients to reassess values and behaviors in the intimacy of a small group of others who share many of the same problems. Groups of no more than eight meet weekly for 90 minutes.
  
  
• Couples and family counseling
  Couples and family counseling allows comprehensive evaluation of intimate or family relationships. Counseling focuses on techniques to restore, normalize and enhance these important relationships.
  
  
• Expressive therapy
  Expressive therapy helps teens and adults express feelings or concerns they may have difficulty putting into words through art, music or drama.
  
  
• Chemical dependency counseling
  Individual and group therapy is available for adults experiencing chemical dependency problems (alcohol or drugs). Therapy focuses on helping individuals learn skills that make it possible to lead productive lifestyles, free of all mood-altering chemicals and behaviors.
