Hospitals can be scary for some patients, especially the smallest of them. A new Pediatric Education Program helps calm the fears of both children and parents, and lets them know what to expect when their child has surgery.
Tours of the surgery and recovery areas are offered to parents and children each Monday from 1-5 p.m. and again on Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Parents are encouraged to call and make an appointment for a tour, and get answers to questions about their child’s upcoming surgery.
On the day of surgery, toys are available for children to play with and photos are taken with families. Children may also take a wagon ride back to surgery, while parents stay in the nearby waiting area.
For more information about the Pediatric Education Program, or to make an appointment for a tour prior to your child's surgery, call (502) 896-7558.
