The Baptist Hospital East Stroke Club is for people who have had a stroke, their family members and friends. It is for people who want to help themselves by:
- meeting people who have had a similar experience;
- offering encouragement and moral support to others;
- attending social events; and
- understanding the many physical and emotional problems associated with strokes.
A stroke just doesn't happen to an individual. It happens to the entire family. Family members and friends often feel confused, frustrated and isolated. The Stroke Club provides support, understanding and encouragement for them.
Healthcare professionals from the Rehabilitation Program at Baptist Hospital East serve as group leaders. Group leaders consist of a chaplain, social workers and recreational therapists.
The Stroke Club meets on the third Thursday of every month from 1-3 p.m. in the second floor Education Center at the hospital.
